Boat Operators Training 2026

Alia, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has officially launched the 2026 Boat Operators Training Program, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to enhancing safety and operational excellence in the Maldives’ marine transport sector.

Now in its 12th year, the annual training program is being held from 14th to 16th July 2026 and brings together 48 boat captains representing resorts, marine transport operators, and government institutions from across the country.

Designed to strengthen both technical knowledge and practical skills, the program covers a range of essential topics, including maritime regulations, navigation safety, emergency response procedures, first aid, fire safety, and best practices in vessel operations. Participants will also receive practical training on Yamaha outboard engine maintenance and troubleshooting, equipping them with the knowledge to improve operational efficiency and make informed decisions while at sea.

The Boat Operators Training Program reflects Alia’s ongoing commitment to supporting the development of the Maldives’ marine industry through knowledge sharing and capacity building. As the sole distributor of Yamaha outboard engines in the Maldives for over five decades, Alia continues to invest in initiatives that promote safer, more efficient, and more reliable marine operations.

We were honored to welcome Captain C.R. Rejith, General Manager of Gulf Craft Maldives, as the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Boat Operators Training Program. In his address, Captain Rejith emphasized the importance of responsible and capable boat captains in ensuring safe journey to passengers. He encouraged participants to continuously enhance their knowledge and practical skills to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

Representatives from Alia and the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT) also highlighted the importance of continuous professional development for boat captains, noting that well-trained operators play a vital role in maintaining safety standards and ensuring dependable marine transportation throughout the country.

Alia extends its sincere appreciation to the Maldives Institute of Technology and all participating organizations for their continued partnership and support. Through initiatives such as the Boat Operators Training Program, Alia remains dedicated to empowering marine professionals and contributing to the sustainable growth of the Maldives’ maritime sector.
